Roy Robert Gean, Jr. was born June 14, 1925 in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co. Ar. to Roy Robert Sr. & Nan Fisher Baker Gean. June 13, 1951 Roy married Salliy R Cutting in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar.

Roy served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII as is mentioned in his obiturary below but no records have been found.

Roy R. Gean, Jr., 90, of Fort Smith, died December 24, 2015 in Fort Smith. He was born June 14, 1925 in Fort Smith to Roy R. and Nannie Fisher Baker Gean.

He was a graduate of Fort Smith High School, member of Kappa Sigma, an Eagle Scout, a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, a 33 Degree Mason, and a veteran of the Army Air Corp during World War II. Roy passed the Bar in 1947 and went into practice with his father as an attorney who established the Law Firm known now as Gean, Gean, and Gean in 1919. He was a member of the Arkansas Swimming Hall of Fame and an avid supporter of the Fort Smith Swimming Association. Roy was a life- long member of First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and served as a Deacon.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sally Gean of the home; one daughter, Ellen and husband Bud Pierce of Salt Lake City, Utah; three sons, Roy Gean, III and wife Rose of Fort Smith; Tom and wife Annette Gean of Bentonville; and David and wife Cara Gean of Fort Smith; one brother, Paul and wife Kaay Gean of Fort Smith; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Virginia Fitting and Nancy Harding.

Memorial service will be Monday, December 28, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the First Baptist Church of Fort Smith. Private burial will be prior to the service all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

The family will greet friends following the Memorial Service in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church.
